All students in grades 9 through 11 are invited to apply for the Technology Support Summer Internship. Applications can be picked up from the HS office. The internship will start on July 8th and end on August 15th. This position will require interns to work Monday through Thursday, approximately 15-20 hours per week, at a rate of $15 per hour. Interns will learn about district technology and sharpen existing tech skills while helping the technology department prepare for the 24-25 school year. Applicants must have a positive attitude, a rudimentary level of technology skills, and the desire to learn. Applications are due back to the HS front office by June 12th, interviews will be on June 14th, and a decision will be made by June 18th.
The Baccalaureate service will be tonight at 7pm in the Student Center. Graduates must wear their caps and gowns for this event.

Summer EBT is a new grocery benefits program that starts this summer. It helps families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer when school is out. Families will get $120 for each eligible child. Families that do not have SNAP, TANF, or OHP and may be eligible, will need to apply. Go to Oregon Summer EBT for more information and to check if your child may be eligible.

4-H STEM Summer Camp is being offered by the OSU Extension Service for Lane County students in grades K-8 June 24-27. For more information, please visit 4-H STEM Summer Camp. Registration deadline is June 19th.
During the month of May, optional workouts will be open to current 8th-11th graders on Wednesdays, from 3:30-4:30. Please meet upstairs in the main gym. The official tryout process will begin May 28th. Tryout practices will be mandatory May 28-31 for anyone wanting to be on the team next year. May 28-30, tryouts will be 3:30-4:30 and on Friday, May 31st, we will start right after school.

Congratulations to the members of our high school track team who competed at the OSAA State Championships this past weekend. Soleis Jones beat our school record in the 400m with a time of 59.31, Girls 4x100 relay team broke our school record, also earning 2nd place in state, Zach Seratte placed 5th in high jump, and Ryan Thomas was 1st in the 100m. Congratulations to Steven Gunn and Braedon Hazel for placing 9th and 10th in javelin. Great job everyone!

MS Boys Soccer will have their first open field on Friday, from 1:30-3. Meet in the bleachers after school. Make sure you are registered and have a current sports physical on file at the office.

The art room received a generous grant from the Pleasant Hill Education Foundation to purchase sketchbooks for every PHMS/HS student who would like one, regardless of whether or not they are currently taking an art class. Students, if you are interested in a sketchbook, please talk to Ms. Jampolsky.

This week marks the 47th time our community will host the annual Pleasant Hill Jazz Festival. On Saturday, we will welcome hundreds of students from the Pacific Northwest, local professionals, and world-renowned Grammy winning artist Esperanza Spalding to our humble town. Please join us for a thrilling music-filled day to remember! Adult festival ticket price is $10 and student K-12/senior tickets are only $5. Children under 5 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the event in the HS office.

AP test dates are approaching soon. Please make sure your test fees are paid before your test date. If you have signed up to take the AP test, you are responsible for the fees associated with that test. Young adults (ages 11-15) will be certified by the American Red Cross, gaining the knowledge and first aid skills to care for infants and children. Juniors and Seniors - This course is an opportunity to learn skills to help in a variety of medical and traumatic situations. By the end of the semester, students will be certified in American Heart Association CPR and First Aid. There will also be an opportunity to take the test to become a Certified Emergency Medical Responder. See Mrs. Vough in room 9 for more information.
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who assisted in any way with the Holiday Food Drive and Giving Tree Program this year. As a group, we served 24 families (50+ children received gifts) all associated with the schools in Pleasant Hill. It takes a community to come together to make this happen, year after year!

Join Lane County 4-H for Adulting 101! This 5-week course is a life skills series for teens ages 12-18 here in Lane County. Classes include career readiness, budgeting basics, self-defense, emergency preparedness, CPR & First Aid certification, food preservation basics, mental health and wellness care, cooking basics, and car basics. Each session comes with useful tools to take home! The series is $75 ($50 for 4-H members) and runs Mondays 5-6:30pm and Saturdays 9am-noon, from Feb. 12 - March 16. Jerry’s Home Improvement is looking for people to hire. This is a great job while in high school, college, or to start a career. The Lunch Buddies program is looking for students in grades 7-12 to become mentors to younger students. The first day of practice for MS Girls Basketball will be next Tuesday, October 24th, from 6:30-8pm in the Blue Gym. In order to participate, you must first register online, make sure we have a current sports physical on file, and pay the $100 sports fee. The bus will depart at 9:00 and includes free entry to the game. Permission slips are required and may be obtained in the front office. There are a limited number of seats, so sign up now!

Girls Soccer traveled to La Pine for their league opener. They won 11-0 with 7 different players scoring. Senior captain Tressa Geyer led the way with a hat-trick, senior captain Dakota Hyland had 2 goals as did sophomore Trinity Smead. Junior Tessa Hammond had three assists including two from corner kicks. The Billies play #1 3A ranked Sisters at home on Thursday at 6pm.

If your students are having trouble getting into Google Classroom or other things they should have access to, it’s probably because the Chromebook needs updating. To update a Chromebook, do the following:
1. At the bottom right, select the time > Settings
2. At the bottom left, select About ChromeOS.
3. Under “Google ChromeOS,” find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
4. Select Check for updates.
5. If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
6. You may need to restart the Chromebook for the update to finish installing.

Students in 7th and 8th grade interested in FFA and Agriculture are invited to attend an FFA and Ag exploration field trip from 8am-3pm on Wednesday, September 27th. Students do not need to be in Mrs. White’s Ag class to attend but they must sign up for the field trip with Mrs. White by September 20th.
Come find out how to be a part of an unforgettable experience with friends, as we raise funds for children with health challenges. We partner with Children’s Miracle Network to create this opportunity for our high school students. All funds raised are donated to our local Children’s Hospital. In addition to activities that build comradery, we put together a memorable pageant that brings our community together, celebrating our gift to the children in our community. * Fun Fact – Kids Helping Kids High School Pageants are the single largest donor to our area Children’s Miracle Network! There will be an informational meeting for all HS students who may be interested. Many roles are needed – organizational, art, choreography, motivational, etc. You don’t need to be a performer to join Mr. Billie. Join us on Thursday, September 28th during HS lunch in Room 20!

The Lunch Buddies program will be starting next month. Students in grades 8-12 are invited to apply to become a Buddy. You will be matched up with an elementary student, who you will meet with for lunch on Tuesdays for about 40 minutes in the PH Community Center. You will spend time doing various activities with your little buddy. Applications can be picked up and dropped off with Jami in the HS Counseling office. These are due by Friday, Sept. 29th. Please see Jami with any questions.
There will be an FFA meeting tonight at 6:30pm in the Student Center for all students in grades 7-12 who may be interested in this program. Parents and students are both welcome and encouraged to attend!

PSAT signup sheet will be in the HS Counseling office. Deadline to sign up is October 4th. You may pay the $18 fee online or in the HS Counseling area. This must be paid before the testing date, which is scheduled for October 25.

MS Cross Country competes in the Woahink Lake Invitational at Honeyman State Park today at 4pm. They will be dismissed at 12:45.
